Considering the recession witnesses by companies across the country, reward and recognition programs are usually the earliest sectors to be neglected or done away with to protect the companys bottom-line. This may appear good on the balance sheet, but can prove costly to the hiring, retention and the overall long-term success of the business. Recognitions and rewards are not limited to monetary bonuses, but also many non-monetary practices aimed at enhancing morale and productivity.



Awards and recognition are usually presented by the firm to employees so that they can get motivation to achieve a set goal, or when an earlier set achievement has been gained. There are many ways the rewards can be defined, but all point to scheme to motivate workers to put more effort and increase productivity. The presentation may take place anytime, but most of the times it is usually towards the end of a companys goal, however, they must match what they were meant for. If implemented in the correct manner, recognition helps an organization when it is pursuing strategy and organization goals.



Considering the current global economy that sees numerous businesses competing for consumers, an organization must be capable of properly motivating and rewarding workers. Failure to do this will mean to risk being overwhelmed by the competition. In addition, it may risk valuable employees resigning to join other rival organizations.



To understand how the rewards work, it is vital to know how some issues are taken to be important. They include the yearning by humans to be accepted and recognized for their work, how the rewards help this cause, and the advantages of setting up such a system in place. One must also understand how the employees appreciate the monetary rewards.



The need for acceptance does not only affect the personal life of a person, but is also carried over to where they work. The workplace does not have to be somewhere with difficult situations and constant stress. Showing workers acceptance and affirmation can decrease and even negate the difficulties and stress. Recognition and rewards is a couple of many ways of displaying acceptance within the workplace. A worker who feels accepted in the workplace is an employee who is free to help and engage creatively in advancing the companys vision and mission.



No one can deny that a recognition and rewards system in a company is imperative. Benefits to employees are not the only things that come with it, since the company also gains. Cartoons together with comic strips usually raw pictures of carrot stick dangling in front of a bull yoke to give them the motivation needed to move forward. The same principle is applied to benefits.



The farm owner has goals to be achieved, but must also figure out ways of stimulating his workers to be of help. Executives or managers offer desirable rewards to employees to keep them working hard and with motivation. With the system in place, staff members are recognized for the hard work they put to make the company successful.



When considering production, employees are the top investment. In the current economic times whereby everything is changing, it is easy to forget the role played by workers in the success of an organization. To avoid this, reward and recognition programs are put in place to recognize their value.
