Though available in many colors, wearing a white turban makes a classic statement of fresh sophistication.



The turban used to be known as a type of headdress worn only by members of certain religious or cultural groups in some eastern civilizations. Today, however, the term refers to any type of brimless covering that fits snugly to the scalp. While it is still quite fashionable to physically twist and tie a long scarf to form a hat, it is possible that purchase one ready made that takes all the work out of the process.

They are the leading choice of head covering among women who are undergoing treatments for cancerous conditions or who suffer from alopecia. If one's hair is being uncooperative or is in dire need of a trip to the beauty salon, slipping into this type of headdress can hide those issues until they can be resolved.



They can be hand made from a long scarf of virtually any fabric, or they may be purchased already made. With some embellishments, they can be suitable for a formal party and without, they are great for working around the house. A terry cloth variation can be substituted for a towel so that hair can dry after a washing or a swim.



A style known as the Hermes is one of the simplest, yet most versatile forms to do. It is just using a triangular shaped scarf around the head, tying a knot or bow to keep the open flap contained. Placing the tie at different points such as the nape of the neck, beside the ear or along the forehead can change not only the look, but the feel of the piece.
