Nano encapsulation is a popular method where some small droplets and particles are surrounded with a particular coating to make some smaller capsule that has diverse properties. These capsules have diameters that ranges from micrometers up to millimeters. Production of foods often use this method as well. Taste and flavor will be incorporated in a food by using it. The physical or chemical feature of a certain material will often be the basis on what technique will be used.



There are numerous reasons why many people prefer to use it. In some cases, the core would be separated from its surroundings like separating some vitamins from the deteriorating effects brought about by oxygen. This could also be used to improve further the handling property of any sticky material. It could be present in some pesticides as well to minimize its leaching and some volatilization risks.



Though the aim of these processes is to separate the core from its surroundings, its walls should be ruptured upon using. This is done simple by applying pressure and shear stress in it. It could also be broken by using solvent actions, enzyme attacks, hydrolysis and even chemical reaction.



There are numerous techniques that could simplify the entire process. Currently, more and more techniques are constantly developed and innovated. A common technique would be pan coating. This is widely used in the world of pharmaceuticals. It is one of the oldest ways that is used to coat and make some tablets. All of the particles that will be needed are arranged in a particular pan or other device while a coating material will be applied slowly.



Centrifugal extrusion is another technique where liquids are encapsulated with the use of a rotating extrusion head. As it moves, a solvent might evaporate from the solution. This process is only excellent in particles that have small diameters. Also, this process is limited for liquids only.



This process may be used to release a particular drug into the body slowly. This could decrease the side effects of toxins found in some drugs by preventing a high initial concentration in the blood. There is always a recommended pattern in releasing it. The typical pattern would be the first order in which the rate would decrease exponentially in time until the source of the drug is exhausted.



These processes may have diverse levels of complexness, capacity and other operating costs with relative comparisons. It may be applied in some areas like consumer and varied products, pharmaceuticals, agricultural and industrial institutions and even food and nutriceuticals. This is also incorporated in various scents of a certain perfume brand. It will also enhance the shelf life of some goods like vitamins.



A certain nanocapsule will usually have different sizes or shapes. It can have diverse compositions as well. An encapsulated particle could have a regular or uniform appearance or might as well have an odd or irregular shape.



Nano encapsulation has definitely evolved in time. Before, it was solely considered a smaller version of microencapsulation. Still, they are more or less the same especially in the certain techniques that will be used in making products. Technology has changed and improved many things through the years. Because of it, life became simpler and easier.
