General Information On The Significance Of Turban Colors

Colors speak volumes and can effectively communicate numerous things about individuals even without their knowledge. They are associated with memories of people, places, and occasions among other things. It is a powerful form of non-verbal communication that has the ability to achieve a greater influence than the word of mouth. The color choices for the clothes we wear, cars we drive, home decor and more say a lot about who we are. In this regard, turban colors too have a special meaning.



Turban colors symbolize various things that very form one place to another. A turban color determines what it is used for. These colors are interpreted differently in different areas. In most cases they are used as a clear indication of the wealth of an individual and in this way signify social cast in the society. The height of the fabric also bears a certain meaning.



A headdress is arguably the most important accessory in Islam and Sikhism. It is simply a long and slender fabric used to cover the head. Traditionally, it is a customary headdress for men. In Islam, it is imperative for women to cover their heads. An equivalent of a turban for women is a hijab. Wrapping this head cover is a remarkable way of preserving ones culture. It signifies the beliefs, traditions and customs of the wearer.



There are no patterns or colors that are specified. They come in different colors and a wide variety of fabrics. Some popular ones are orange, black, white, green and navy blue. The materials are of different quality making them affordable to everyone. Regardless of the type of fabric used, the items are always fashionable. Most turbans are made using fine muslin, cotton, silk or synthetics.



In countries where Islam is the predominant religion, religious scholars and leaders wear white turbans around special caps. Black turbans are worn by individuals who are direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad. Green and white are believed to be the colors of paradise. Brightly colored turbans are worn when attending celebratory events such as parties and weddings. Those that are plain or dull are mainly for solemn events like funerals.



In these communities it is viewed as a proper way of dressing. It signifies desirable values held in high regard by members of this society. Some of the desirable values are manhood, self-respect, devotion among others. Most people wear green and white turbans which are believed to cause their prayers to be answered properly.



The common turbans in the Sikh community are orange and navy blue in color. They are worn during religious events and when attending commemorative events. Pink wraps are worn during celebratory occasions such as marriage ceremonies and parties. Sikhs wear white turbans daily to preserve their religious beliefs.



In most of the societies where this practice is treasured there is no particular defined or set design or color for turbans. The choices individuals make are mainly guided by personal preference with most people preferring turban colors that match the rest of their outfit. There are several favorites for certain events and occasions. In conclusion, these choices are as a result of popular favorites and common norms.
