Choosing Stylish Casual Shoes Will Keep You Looking Good In Comfort

By Bernice Terry

Stylish casual shoes are available in many designs for both women and men. This type of footwear is intended for daily use and comfort, but it can still boast a fun and colorful style. Typically casual footwear has a simpler design and in the case of women's shoes, a lower heel as well. The arches and toe bar of the feet should be supported by them, making them ideal for going for a walk or to the mall.

When the weather is warm, the sandal is a good choice. They are made to conform to the contours of a healthy foot and help evenly distribute body weight, giving support to the feet, legs, ankles. There should also be padding under the heels for extra stability and spinal alignment. Sandals are also open and airy, allowing optimal ventilation and comfort.

Clogs are a casual shoe that is a hybrid between the sandal and the solid shoe, as it consists of a closed toe box but has an open back with a strap. They are easy to slip on and off and are great for people who are on their feet a lot. Most have a rubber insole for cushioned comfort inside and a wooden or rubber sole on the bottoms for optimal traction.

Moccasins provide ultimate comfort and make the wearer almost feel barefoot. The original designs were hand-crafted by Native peoples from deerskin and often decorated with beautiful bead work. This basic style has recently been replicated by many shoe manufacturers to create a shoe that fits much like a sock or slipper.

The classic lace-up shoe is generally lightweight supportive and made for comfort, yet it can also be a fashion statement. No longer just reserved for sports, tennis or running shoes are a popular choice for everyday use. There are also durable lace-up designs made from leather or canvas which are a bit dressier in style.

Ballet flats are a simple, form-fitting shoe popular with a lot of women. It is best to choose one that has both a cushioned insole and just a slight heel, which will give extra support to the feet when walking. They must fit properly, and those designs which include a strap are preferable.

Whichever style of casual footwear one favors must be a proper fit for his or her feet. At the shoe store, the salesperson will accurately measure the length, width, and shape of customers' feet to ensure they select footwear best-suited to these measurements. Poorly fitted shoes can lead to many problems with the feet and legs.

Always trying on any pair of stylish casual shoes one is interested in buying is a must before making the purchase. The toes should fit comfortably in the toe box and they should not move around or press into the heel. The customer should walk around the store for a few minutes and make sure they feel comfortable. If there are any poorly sewn seams, cracked leather, or thin insoles, the shoes should not be bought.
