A Guide To Fully Convert To Judaism

If you wish to convert to Judaism, you will be required to follow certain steps. It is not an instant process but a lengthy one, intended at self awareness. Conversion affects your entire life. It is for this reason that you will be required to study Jewish beliefs, traditions and culture. The process is completed under the guidance of a rabbi.



You will begin by researching into the customs, history and laws of the Jews. You will know the kind of life you are signing into and why you want to take that step. It is important to note that the decision you make will affect every part of your life. You are expected to teach the same belief to your children.



There are 613 commandments for you to learn and 13 other principles. They form the foundation of any formation. Your family should have knowledge of the step you are about to take. Informing them allows them to examine your desires and intentions. They must find comfort in your reasons to ensure harmony is maintained.



It is tough for anyone to covert because of marriage. It is a requirement to have the conviction before converting. It is common to hear that Im a rabbi who is not ready to admit anyone for convenience sake. Your spouse will help you choose a denomination to follow. Personal decision and conviction are important when converting.



It is demanded that anyone willing to convert to Judaism must be sincere and genuine at heart. The drive must emanate from a spiritual urge. It must not be considered for convenience purposes. You will discuss the best branch between Orthodox, Reform and Conservatives you would like to join. These branches are distinguished by their devotion.



You will inform a Rabbi once you have made the final decision. He will try to convince you otherwise to measure your conviction. It is expected that you will resist such a move since you are determined. This opens the door for you to complete the process of conversion. It takes time to go through these stages unlike other religions.



There are classes for faithful wishing to convert to Judaism. They last almost or over a year and can be offered during the night. The guidance of the Rabbi ensures that you follow all the requirements of Jewish laws and traditions. Learners are introduced to culture, religion, traditions and beliefs among other ideals of the Jews. Hebrew is the preferred language of delivery.



Classes end with a test where the learner sits through a court of three authorities. It is referred to as Beit Din and tests your preparedness to stick to Halacha. This procedure is mandatory. Successful candidates prepare for the full emersion ceremony. One has the entire body dipped in Mikveh. All males must be circumcised. The ritual requires a little blood to be shed.



Children do not convert to Judaism automatically because their parents have converted. Strict orders even demand that a mother who is pregnant cannot pass this spirituality at birth. Such a child must take independent classes at teenage. Children born after conversion are not required to undergo this ritual.
